Chivalry?

This subject was on my mind while I was in English class, due to a prior conversation with my roommate a couple days ago. And so I decided I'd blog about it on here as well as my blog for my English class.

"Roses are red, Some diamonds are bluechivalry is dead, But you're still kinda cute. "

Chivalry is defined as: courtesy towards women.

This come from the medieval times as the principles and customs of a knight. [the way the knights are to act].

In my opinion.... CHIVALRY IS DEAD. Just like hip-hop was last year. I say this because dudes are just not the same as how they used to be. I can't say that every man is a gentlemen, but they should be,  I am quite sure their mother's  raised them that way: to be chivalrous. I do understand that chivalry can also mean holding doors open and stuff, but chivalry is also like making the first move, asking a girl out on a date and things of that matter. Granted some guys do DO these things, but not as much as they used to, or not as many men do it.

BUT I have also come to notice some women killed chivalry too. It was killed by the whole 'independent woman' movement. So if a woman is independent, she will not turn to a man to do anything for her. All these woman walking around like "I don't need a man, I can take care of ME!"  It's great you can take care of yourself, but guess what? YOU ARE STILL SINGLE !

I do not NEED a man but it would be nice to HAVE one. I can take care of ME, but I want HIM to take care of ME from time to time. #justsayin

Don't get me a wrong a woman should be independent and make sure they do for themselves, because who is to say ya'll going to stay together so make sure you take care of you and yours.

A man should be independent as well.

Some dudes like a woman who is independent but will still turn to him sometimes. They want to be able to spoil their girlfriends but if she doesn't have her own money, homegirl would be dependent on him. They want a girl who wants but doesn't need them., BUT there are always some who want a girl to have to need and depend on him. [But I feel it depends on what they are needed for or if being depending on for advice and such]

Some say "Nice guys finish last" okay, so continue to be nice, finish last and end up with a great girl. Who knows how long 'last' will be, it could be weeks or years.

So guys, be chivalrous, I'm not saying take your jacket off for shorty to walk over a puddle [b/c I surely would not do that for anyone unless you Jesus, and he can walk on water tuh!

Ode to the Miseducation.

BEST ALBUM EVER

"How you gon win when you aint right within?""

I don't know anyone who does not agree that 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' is not one of the best albums ever. There is not one song on this album that you can skip over. Every song on this album makes you feel some type of way. Not only are the songs awesome, but you can relate to everyone of them, For example "Doo Wop (that thing)" talks about sex and gives a warning "Boys you know you better (watch out) some girls, some girls are only (about) that thing.." [thing being sex].

I remember my eldest sister Morva had this album in our house, and she used to play it on the stereo. And  I ALWAYS remembered the cover. I didn't know any of the songs just yet, I was only seven when the album dropped, but as i grew up I STILL heard this album in rotation at my house and I remember the videos of course.

I feel like EVERYONE should have this album on their ipod. I'm gonna go listen to it now :)

Kan-Yeezy!

G.O.O.D Music

"Throw your hands in the air if you as real as me"

This song has some serious star power! I love the beat of course, it almost sounds like background music for a video game or something.

Kanye been ON IT lately with his collabos! [actually he has always been on it].

 *Kanye been going hard this season with his music.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a previous post I told yall how I felt about the 'Power' remix [too live--Previous Post]
A little later Ye dropped 'Monster' [another track with major star power
"Gossip gossip, n*ggas just stop it--everybody know (I’m a muthaf*cking monster)"
The beginning of 'Monster' sound type scary but the beat is live of course. Nicki Minaj went in on this track too [I'm mad she made a reference to Tony Matterhorn and dutty wine though] Jay-Z was good too [Of course i have to say that, he is my favorite :)
THEN! Kanye dropped, 'Devil In A New Dress'
"The way you look should be a sin, you my sensation"
I LOVE this song, especially the beat! I am a really big fan of rap with samples of old songs. When I say old songs, I don't mean, when artists sample a song from last year (-_-), I like those old sample from like the 50s [they just sound better on a hip hop beat =]
Enjoy!
Holding You Down
Can you hold me down?
"Keep going in circles, circles--round and round. And while you're doing me so wrong, i just keep holding you down. ♥"
I know ya'll remember Jazmine Sullivan when she first came out with 'I Need U Bad' with the Jamaican slow rock beat [that joint STILL goes hard, to me at least =]
I most recently heard her new song 'Holding You Down (Goin' In Circles)' and quickly fell in love with it. The beat on this song goes so hard! I like that lil classical beat with the hip hop drums, too live.
I believe every song I've heard of Jazmine Sullivan I have liked. So listen and watch the video below. [Been playing this song for the past 2 days]
Visit her site too jazminesullivanmusic.com
Download the song & add it to your ipod--> Holding You Down--Download :D
*she is super pretty too!
Can You Cook?
Master Chef :)
Lil B is a strange individual.
My roommate told me about this video of Lil B 'Cooking'. Apparently 'cooking' is a dance. What kills me is that Lil B is sooooooooo serious about this!
Ya'll remember when Lil B was in The Pack? I loved the Pack son, i don't know what happened to them.
Anyway, for a while Lil B been dropping songs like 'Wonton Soup". Some people like Lil B others say he is ass. Me? I'm neutral. But enjoy the video, & learn to 'cook', Im going to learn too :D
Labor Day 2010
Jammin' down the rooooaaaaad!
"Its Carnival in NYC *Destra Voice*"
Labor Day Parade in Brooklyn, NY [Eastern Parkway] was tooooooo liiiive! This was was second year in attendance & it was more fun than the first. The HAITIAN floats were the livest [of course i would think so #TEAMHAITI]. Soca #chunes were on point! We were 'palancing' and wilding out.
But of course there are always those ratched folks who had on things they had no business wearing like lace, & tights..or nothing -_-
There was also a bit of violence, couple dudes got 'bruk up' in front of the Haitian float. Supposedly a gun was also pulled out, but my friends and i just ran away from the area when everyone else began running.
On the brighter side there were PLENTY of fine brothers at the parade [especially the Haitians & Trinis, some Guyanese cuties too =]
Made a Video too! So enjoy it :D [shouts to @Nellz_Nuffsaid for the vid]
5Vizion  released their mixtape "After the Quake."  August 31st, 2010. They started off with a series of hilarious videos YouTube between Jonas & his Haitian Father.
They  then created a parody  of the popular song 'Beamer Benz or Bentley' & transformed it to 'Bannan Peze Picklies'. Over time they continued to paradox popular songs & created a mixtape.
I first discovered the videos of Jonas & his Haitian Father during finals week when i was supposed to be studying =X. My homegirl Nathalie [follow her @nadalayNoOdles] and i sat there and watched them all!!
After seeing the videos i added Jonas on twitter & his tweets cracked me up. Then slowly overtime I befriended Jonas as well as Brian & Odell.
Dear Summer.
Dear summer I know you gon miss me.....but i wont miss you... because you sucked!
Summer is OVER, it's back on the grind. BACK TO SCHOOL [St.John's University] . Summer 2010 was....WACK! Everyone i know had a womp womp summer, definitely could have been better.
I spent my summer in one of the greatest places in the world.......
Besides the gunshots I heard in Canarsie while I was there--my summer was aight. Went to Seaview Park a couple times, went bowling, the movies, hit Sheepshead Bay, and a couple more places. BUT this summer i realized how much I LOVE Brooklyn.
Brooklyn has its own culture and embraces the culture of all the cultures its inhabitants. [West Indians too :D BAP BAP BAP!] and it's just so liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive
Every Labor Day there is a Caribbean Parade on Eastern Parkway and it is just toooooooo poppin' [went for the first time last year].
Come Labor Day i'll surely have more love for Brooklyn & a new post. :D
Good Wood NYC
Do you have good wood? ;)
Image of Good Wood 'Maple' Jesus Piece
"From the Polo fleece to the Jesus piece"
I read up on Good Wood on SoJones.com. It began in 2007 in NYC by Kerri O'Connell. her original intention was just to make extra money on the side but quickly blew up!
Every boy on campus [St. Johns University], some of my homeboys & every dude on the NYC subway system has a good wood piece. And i would just look at the necklace and wonder "What brand is that?" Then i flipped it and looked up Good Wood. So i looked into the peices, they are pretty cool and it truly like no other jewelry line it has the streets buzzin
Debit Credit Cash?
My girl Karen is back at it again.
So, this video talks about what I ask myself everyday. I truly do not understand how people have food stamps, WIC, EBT and all that government help but YET come to Key Foods [or any grocery store for that matter] with their Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, D & G, Burberry & Juicy Couture on. If you cannot support your family and you need government aid, why don't you use your cash for the food instead your designer stuff? But i know people will continue to do what they want *sigh* hott mess. But watch the video & share it with your friends :)
